History Biographical:

The Shingwauk 2013 Gathering and Conference: Healing and Reconciliation Through Education was held August 2nd - August 4th, 2013 at Algoma University. The theme of the conference was language reclamation.

The gathering saw approximately 130 Survivors, academics, community members, and members of the general public attend the weekend's activities. The Gathering was put on by the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) in collaboration with the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre. It was the second annual Shingwauk Gathering and Conference and the ninth Shingwauk Reunion.

The Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) have been holding reunions of the students, staff, clergy, and descents of those involved with the Shingwauk and Wawanosh Indian Residential Schools since 1981. Gatherings were held in 1981, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2014, and 2015.

Fonds comprises documentation relating to the planning and implementation of the Shingwauk 2013 Gathering and Conference. Fonds also includes photograph and video documentation of the conference proceedings. Includes posters, registration documentation, speaker material, planning documents and other material.
