History Biographical:

The 2014 Shingwauk Gathering and Conference: Art and the Archive was held August 1st to August 3rd, 2014 at Algoma University in Sault Ste Marie. Approximately 150 Survivors, families, and community members participated in workshops, presentations, and events throughout the weekend.

The Gathering was put on by the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) in collaboration with the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre. It was the third annual Shingwauk Gathering and Conference and the tenth Shingwauk Reunion.

The Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) have been holding reunions of the students, staff, clergy, and descents of those involved with the Shingwauk and Wawanosh Indian Residential Schools since 1981. Gatherings were held in 1981, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Scope Content:

Fonds comprises documentation relating to the planning and implementation of the Shingwauk 2014 Gathering and Conference: Art and the Archive. Fonds also includes video and photo documentation of the Gathering events.
