History Biographical:

The Shingwauk 2016 Gathering and Conference: Fulfilling the Vision that was held at Algoma University July 29 - July 31, 2016. The event saw over 150 survivors, families, intergenerational-survivors, and members of the general public participate in events throughout the weekend.

The 2016 gathering was the fifth annual Shingwauk Gathering and Conference and the 12th Shingwauk Reunion. It was also the 35th anniversary of the first Shingwauk Reunion held in 1981. The Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) have been holding reunions of the students, staff, clergy, and descents of those involved with the Shingwauk and Wawanosh Indian Residential Schools since 1981. Gatherings were held in 1981, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Fonds comprises records documenting the activities of the Shingwauk 2016 Gathering and Conference held at Algoma University July 29 - July 31, 2016. Includes meeting minutes, programs, planning materials, registration forms, photographs, and other material.
