St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church (Biscotasing, Ont.) is a church in the single point parish of St. John the Evangelist (Biscotasing, Ont.).
Biscotasing was one of the missions along the Canadian Pacific Railway, the ministers often riding in freights to go from settlement to settlement. One such episcopal journey took place in January 1905 where a service was held in the small church. Although a church already existed in the settlement, in 1906 money was raised by the S.P.C.K. (Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge) for the construction of a new church.
In 1913 the Biscotasing settlement suffered from a fire that destroyed homes, businesses, the mill, and the C.P.R. station. The Anglican church was unharmed, but the community was damaged.
The community did survive, however, and on September 13, 1936 a W.A. (Women's Auxiliary) officially start at St. John the Evangelist.
In the summer of 1971, the Mississauga and Thunder Bay Deaneries had the help of two Church Army students. John Locke, one of the two, spent his time working for the churches along the C.P.R. Biscotasing was his headquarters and held services every week. Also during this summer, considerable repair work was done on the church, the cost of which was offset by a bake-sale hosted by the W.A.
When the neighbouring St. Andrew's Anglican Church (Ramsay, Ont.) was closed, the still-active St. John's acquired much of the property in 1983.
