History Biographical:

The Shingwauk 2018 Gathering and Conference: Fulfilling the Vision that was held at Algoma University August 3 - August 5, 2018. The event saw over 200 survivors, families, intergenerational-survivors, and members of the general public participate in events throughout the weekend. The event also conicided with the opening of the Reclaiming Shingwauk Hall exhibition space.

The 2018 gathering was the sixth annual Shingwauk Gathering and Conference and the 13th Shingwauk Reunion. It was also the 35th anniversary of the first Shingwauk Reunion held in 1981. The Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA) have been holding reunions of the students, staff, clergy, and descents of those involved with the Shingwauk and Wawanosh Indian Residential Schools since 1981. Gatherings were held in 1981, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
