Anderson, Gustavus Alexander (1825-1896)

(5 July 1825 Drummond Island -12 March 1896 Mohawk Parsonage, Thyendinaga, Bay of Quinte) Son of Thomas Gummersall Anderson, Northern Superintendent of Indian Affairs & Elizabeth Ann Hamilton. Educated at Upper Canada College & Trinity College, Toronto MA; Deacon: 1848, Priest: 1849, Toronto; SPG Missionary at Sault Ste. Marie & Garden River (1848-1850); Mohawk Church, Tyendinaga, Bay of Quinte, Hastings County, (1850-1870), SPG Missionary (1850-1857); Matilda (1870-1874); Penetanguishene (1874-1885); Chaplain to Penetanguishene Reformatory (1884-1885); Deseronto (1889). Married on 12 June 1850 Mary, daughter of William Clouston of the Hudson's Bay Company and neice to James Dougal Cameron. Children: William, Mary, Thomas, Gustavus, Helen, Janet & Sophia. Thomas and Janet died in infancy.
