The Office of the Dean was created in 1978. It evolved from the functions held by the Office of the Principal (1966-1977). Both the Office of the Principal and that of the Dean exercised academic functions, now exercised by the Office of the Academic Dean (1984- ) as well as the functions of a Chief Executive Officer, which are now held by the Office of the President (1984- ). The following individuals held the Office of the Dean (1978-1984): Dr. Robert G. Ewing (1978-1984) and Dr. Thomas A. Allaway (1983-1984) [as Associate Dean].
Fonds reflects the functional responsibilities of the Office of the Dean of Algoma University College. Fonds comprises correspondence, publications, reports, Ontario Councial of University Affairs correspondence and briefs, committee records, and budgetary, financial and administrative records.
