Rev. E.F. Wilson arrived in 1878 at Lake Nipigon to meet with the people of the late Chief Manitoshens to begin the planning of establishing the Neepigon Mission and the first St. Mary's Anglican Church at a location that has been known by a multitude of interchangeable names. The Neepigon Mission church was located on Lake Nipigon at McIntyre Bay.
