History Biographical: 

Dorothy Hope Thompson was born in 1917 in Winnipeg. She taught sewing at the Shingwauk Indian Residential School from 1938-1940.

Scope Content: 

Fonds comprises a scrapbook collected by Dorothy Hope Thompson. The scrapbook includes photographs of students, staff, buildings and activities at the Shingwauk Indian Residential School from 1937-1940.

History Biographical: 

Gladys Mary Otway (1912 August 16 - 2016 August 10) began working at the Shingwauk Indian Residential School on April 2, 1938. 

Gladys went on to marry Alex MacLachlan, they had two children: Beverly Dick (nee MacLachlan) and Douglas MacLachlan.

Gladys passed away at Maple View Extendicare in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on Wednesday August 10, 2016.

She is pictured on the left.
