Sims, Jabez Waters (1831-1869)

(1831 Basingstoke, England - 18 August 1869 drowned at Killarney). Deacon: 1858 Huron under the auspices of the SPG; SPG Missionary at Dungansa (1863) in Diocese of Huron; Missionary at Manitowaning (1864-1867); Sheguiandah (1867-1869) (first service in 1865). Known to the Ojibwe as "Mkade-cunesse" or "Little Black-coat". Fell overboard in calm weather while visiting Killarney and drowned within sight of his wife and child.
