(20 November 1856 Meadowvale, Ontario - 1 June 1942 Victoria, B.C.). Educated at Trinity College, Toronto BA (1880); Family was United Empire Loyalists; Deacon: 1878, Priest: 1880 Algoma; came to Sault Ste. Marie with Thomas Appleby; Sheguiandah (1876-1878) with Frederick Frost as teacher; Bruce Mines (1878-1880); Garden River with Sugar, Cockburn & St. Joseph Islands (1880-1882); St. James Episcopal Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (1882-1895); Bishop of Alaska (1895-1942). Elected Bishop of South Dakota in 1911 but declined. Married Dora Henrietta Carry (1853-1914), daughter of the Rev'd John Carry and Governess & Superintendent of the Wawanosh Home for Indian Girls, (1880-1882). See biography of Henry Beer.
