Givens, Saltern (1809-1880)

friend and classmate of William McMurray; educated by Bishop John Strachan; son of James Givens of the Indian Department and Angelique Andrews; Deacon: 1831, Priest: 1833 Quebec; Mohawk Mission on Bay of Quinte (1833-1850); Niagara and Oakville (1851-1852); Erindale, Dixie & Port Credit (1852-1856); St. Paul's, Toronto (1856-1880); Inspector of Indian Missions for the Diocese of Toronto which made him a frequent visitor as overseer to O'Meara, Sims and Chance.
