Elliot, Adam (1802-1878)

(1802 England- 1878). Studied subjects in divinity under John Strachan at York; Deacon: 1832, Priest: 1833 Quebec; Travelling Missionary in the Home District for the Society for Converting and Civilizing the Indians of Upper Canada and Propagating the Gospel Among White Settlers (1835-1836); based at Tuscarora; First Communion services at Manitowaning and Sault Ste. Marie in June of 1835; Returned to Manitowaning in June of 1836; Six Nations Reserve under the sponsorship of the New England Company (1836-1876); Twice married; only surviving child died in (1854).
