(1 July 1829 Amblecote, Stowe, Worcestshire, England - 11 October 1897) - Educated at Red Hill endowed school and college at Cheltenham - did not complete course.SPG Missionary at Manitowaning with Frederick O'Meara - 1853 teacher- Deacon: 1856, Priest 1857 Toronto; Garden River (1854-1871); Responsible for the construction of St. Luke's, Sault Ste. Marie (1870); Chemong (near Peterborough) (1871); Kanyungeh Mission,Grand River Reserve, Brantford (1871-1879); Paisley & Pinkerton (1879); Tyrconnell & Burwell Park (1880-1894); Honorary Canon St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Ontario; Paralytic stroke (1892); Married: Hannah Foulkes (1824-1904) a fellow teacher at Manitowaning. Children: Edith, Caroline, John, Anna & Alice. Hannah Foulkes Chance authored: "In Memoriam: Reminiscences of Our Work Among the Indians", London, Ont.: Holland & Fleming, (1898).
