History Biographical: 

Pelican Lake Indian Residential School, was located at Pelican Lake about six miles from the town of Sioux Lookout, Ontario. It operated from 1926-1973 and was affiliated with the Anglican Church of Canada.

Fonds comprises photographs of students, activities, and staff at Pelican Lake Residential School, located near Sioux Lookout Ontario.

Custodial History: 

The photo album in accession 2011-010/001 was collected by Joyce Clinton, who was a staff member at the Pelican Lake Indian Residential School. Accession 2011-010/001 was donated by Barb Cameron in 2007, who was given the ablum from a non-Indigenous person in hopes of locating an approrite home for it. Collection was previously known as the Joyce Clinton fonds.

 

Materials in accession 2020-017 were donated to the Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre in 2020 by Peter Neville. This photo album was compiled by Elise Steward, who worked as a nurse in a number of Residential Schools. Her photograph album contains images from Pelican Lake Residential School (Sioux Lookout, Ont.), Gordon's Residential School (Punnichy, SK.), All Saints Residential School (Prince Albert, SK.), and the Carcross Residential School (Carcross, YK). The majority of the photographs relate to the Pelican Lake School.
