History Biographical: 

Dorothy (Lye) Bowers (1928-2009) was a staff member at the Shingwauk Indian Residential School. Dorothy served as the Girls Supervisor from 1947-1948 at Shingwauk. In 1948 Dorothy left her position at Shingwauk for an appointment as the Bishop's secretary in Sault Ste Marie. While working as the Bishop's secretary Dorothy continued to act as a brownie leader for the Shingwauk brownie troop.
