History Biographical: 

The Deanery of Superior was formerly a primary administrative subdivision of the Diocese of Algoma. Due to the restructuring of the Diocese, it no longer exists. The parish of Nipigon (including Red Rock, Dorion, and Schreiber), and the parish of Manitouwadge (including Marathon) were moved to the Deanery of Thunder Bay as a result of the restructuring in 1976.
