History Biographical:

Harry Graham was a forester with the Department of Lands and Forests in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario from 1951-1967. In the late 1960s Graham played an instrumental role in the establishment of a Forestry Technician program at Sault College. Graham became an instructor with Cambrian College (Sault Ste. Marie) in 1968 and then from 1973-1985 with Sault College.

In April 1975, Harry Graham formed the Sault Rapids Society to fight against Great Lakes Power Ltd. plans to construct a generating station on Whitefish Island. The Sault Rapids Society's successfully lobbied to have Whitefish Island recognized as a historic site and worked to preserve the fauna in St. Mary's River ecosystem.

In 2007 he was posthumously inducted into the Sault Ste Marie Walk of Fame.

Fonds comprises materials documenting Harry D. Graham's involvement in heritage initiatives in the Algoma Region. Includes materials relating to forestry preservation, the heritage of the St Mary's River, and Graham's involvement on local heritage organization boards.
