Content note : a committee has been formed of representatives from the Garden River and Rankin Indian reserves to transform the Shingwauk Residential school into Ontario's first Indian cultural centre. What effect the move by Algoma College will have is not known. However some people suggest both groups could be served with the development of Shingwauk by the college with a section dedicated to Indian studies.
