The Right Reverend Dr. Frederick Dawson Fauquier was an eminent Canadian Anglican priest in the second half of the nineteenth century. He was born at Malta on 29 July 1817 and educated at Richmond, London.
He married Sarah Eliza Burrowes and emigrated to Canada where he farmed at East Zorra. Ordained in 1846, he was the incumbent at Huntingford, Ontario until 1873 when he was elevated to the episcopate as the inaugural Bishop of the then missionary Diocese of Algoma. He died in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on 7 December 1881. He is interred at the Bishop Fauquier Memorial Chapel cemetery located on the campus of Algoma University and Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig.
