Christ Anglican Church (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) is part of the single point Christ Church Anglican Parish (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.).
Prior to the construction of Christ Anglican Church services were held in the West Korah School by Rev. John Widhemer Ralph, incumbent of St. Luke's Anglican Church (Sault Ste. Marie) from 1872-1874. After his departure Rev. E.F. Wilson took occasional services at Korah from 1874-1876.
Under the guidance of Rev. Thomas H. Appleby and Rev. Peter Trimble Rowe the original church building was completed in 1880 in the Township of Korah and dedicated on December 19 that year. Three years later the Sunday School was formed. The first parsonage was built in 1897.
In 1902 the church underwent significant renovation; the church was raised, a stone basement installed, and the building veneered with brick. The corner stone was also laid. In 1920 a hot air furnace was installed.
The decision was made to build a new church, and in 1932 the original building was torn down and much of the material was integrated into the new church. This new church was dedicated by Bishop Roxborough Smith the same year. In 1933 a cement basement and the frame of the new church were completed. Church services were held in the basement until the fall of 1937 when the church building was completed. The new church building was consecrated on June 15, 1941 by Rev. Kingston Bishop of Algoma.
The congregation marked the 38th anniversary of Canon Hunter on June 12, 1932. The new chancel furniture, pulpit, and memorial windows were dedicated.
In 1952 work on the new parsonage began, and the sod was turned on June 5. In 1955, the church celebrated their 75th anniversary. A new vestry was gifted by the Hunter family in memory of Canon Hunter, and was dedicated by Rev. C.B. Noble.
Renovations of the church began in 1960, and by 1964 there was a new basement, new narthex, church doors, east window, communion vessels, and silver credence wafer box.
In 1988 and 1989 two stained glass windows were added to the window depicting Christ rising. These new windows were of the Nativity scene and the Crucifixion, and both are in memory of Canon Hunter, the Archdeacon, and Mrs. Noble.
In 1995 the church had major additions which included the sanctuary, nave, an office, meeting room, new kitchen, nursery, and washrooms. A digital organ was added in 1998, and in 2000 the narthex was expanded and included wheelchair access ramps. The church was also gifted a steeple for the bell.
Incumbents and rectors who have served Christ Anglican Church include: Rev. Peter Trimble Rowe, Rev. J.K. Simtherman (1896-?), Rev. W.H. Hunter (1899-1941), Rev. Nock (1942-1945), Rev. P.W.O. Hill, Rev. A.J. Bruce, Rev. Charles Noble (1947-?).
