The first Anglican service was held for St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Parish in the home of G.E. Bagley on the first Sunday of December in 1907. It was from the G.E. Bagley home that plans for a dedicated church building were started. In 1949 a basement hall for the church was started and in 1959 Ven. James F. Hinchliffe, Archdeacon of Thunder Bay oversaw the laying of the foundation stone of the church.
St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church (Thunder Bay, Ont.) was dedicated by the Most Rev. W.L. Wright, Archbishop of Algoma in 1959. At the time of the dedication there was an indebtedness owing on the building that was borrowed for its construction. This indebtedness was discharged in 1977 and the church was consecrated on October 1, 1978 by the Rt. Rev. Frank F. Nock.
On January 7, 1990 Bishop Leslie Peterson dedicated the addition to the church of Saint Michael and All Angels and rededicated the existing building which had underwent extensive renovation.
