History Biographical: 
These interviews were conducted by Donald John Wilshere as part of his MA in education. These interviews ultimately formed the basis of his thesis, "The Experience of Seven Alumni Who Attended Shingwauk Residential School as Children 1929-1964." Don Wilshere completed his MA at the Faculty of Education at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay.

Series comprises records documenting the interviews of Residential School Survivors from Shingwauk and Wawanosh. Series includes transcriptions, audio recordings, and general correspondence.

History Biographical: 
Nancy Minchin the wife of Canon Arthur E. Minchin who was the Principle at Shingwauk Residential School from 1942-1948. Arthur Minchin came to Canada in 1910, under the British Missionary Society. He attended Emmanuel College in Saskatoon for five years. From 1919-1912 Arthur was in charge of the MacKay Indian Residential School in the Pas Manitoba. From 1912-1936, Rev. Minichin worked at various schools including: St. George's College and Elkhorn. The Minchin family moved in Sault Ste Marie in 1942. Nancy attended high school in the city, following which she attended the University of Toronto and the Toronto Normal School. Nancy's first teaching appointment was in Whitefish Falls. Nancy and her husband have five children, three of whom are also teachers. Nancy currently lives in Pawassen, south of Lake Nippissiing.
