History Biographical: 
Rector Charles F. Hives was principal of the Shingwauk Residential School from 1929 to 1942. Charles F. Hives was married to Jean Hives (nee Royston). They had two children: Arthur Royston Hives and Jean (Hives) Purvis. Charles Hives also worked as a principal at St. George's Indian Residential School in Lytton British Columbia and the All Saints Indian Residential School in Lac La Ronge, Saskatchewan (?-1929)
